“My dad would do anything for my mom. He bought all these goats and animals for her, and then he would fuss at them and fight with them in the yard.”

They don't have to learn an app. They just answer the phone.

House of Ours makes sharing family stories simple. Your loved one answers a call, hears a story starter, and tells a memory in their own words. Their voice and written story are saved in your family's archive.

Why I Started House Of Ours

A woman and man stand together beside a red car outdoors on a sunny day.

Recently, I went to a funeral that was called a celebration of life. A wife told stories about her husband, and other family members shared their own.

I left thinking about how much I don’t know about the relatives I’ve lost, and how few stories I tell my kids.

Around that same time, my mom told me she used to have a voicemail with my dad’s voice on it. It was deleted, and she was so sad to have lost it.

A story written down is worth keeping. But hearing it in a familiar voice, with the laugh, the pauses, and the way someone tells it, is something else.

That’s why I started House Of Ours. It began with a simple idea: call a relative, ask a question, and give them room to tell a story. No app to learn. They just answer the phone. It has grown since then, but the reason hasn’t changed.

I want to know more of my family’s stories. I want my kids to know mine. And I want to make it easier for other families to do the same.
