Privacy PolicyTerms of Service

This policy explains what House Of Ours collects, why we use it, how family archive content is shared, and the choices available to you.

1. Who operates House Of Ours

House Of Ours is operated personally by Nicholas Potter in Florida, United States. In this policy, “House Of Ours,” “we,” “us,” and “our” refer to Nicholas Potter as the service operator.

Privacy questions and requests may be sent to support@houseofours.life. A mailing address is available upon valid request.

2. Information we collect

Account and profile information

We collect information needed to create and secure your account, such as your name, email address, profile photo, authentication identifiers, archive membership, role, and preferences. Our authentication provider may also process sign-in information and security signals.

Family archive content

You and invited members may provide stories, photographs, videos, audio recordings, transcripts, dates, places, captions, relationships, tags, and information about people represented in an archive. This content may include personal information about family members and other people who do not have an account.

Memory Calls

If an archive owner or authorized member enables Memory Calls, we process the recipient’s name, phone number, call schedule, prompt context, call status, audio recording, and transcript. The recipient should be told that the call may be recorded and transcribed, and all required consent must be obtained before using this feature.

Billing and transactions

Our payment provider processes payment-card and billing information. We receive transaction details such as subscription status, plan, purchase identifiers, and billing dates, but we do not store full payment-card numbers.

Technical and usage information

We process device, browser, IP address, request, security, error, and feature-usage information needed to operate, protect, troubleshoot, and improve the service. We also use cookies and similar browser storage for authentication, security, session continuity, preferences, and offline functionality. When you follow one of our tagged advertising links, we may retain first-party campaign attribution for up to 30 days and record allow-listed campaign steps such as landing-page visits, recording actions, and signup starts. A random browser key is converted to a one-way hash for deduplication and to join those steps to server-confirmed account, saved-audio-story, and paid-subscription outcomes. The hash is retained for up to 90 days, then deleted. Reports are aggregate and do not show names, account identifiers, email addresses, story content, or individual histories. We do not use this measurement for cross-device matching, browser fingerprinting, ad-platform pixels, or conversion APIs, and it does not send your memories to advertisers. We honor browser Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals for campaign measurement.

3. How we use information

  • Provide, secure, maintain, and support House Of Ours.
  • Store, organize, search, display, share, export, back up, and restore archive content.
  • Authenticate users, enforce archive permissions, and deliver invitations and service notices.
  • Process subscriptions, purchases, cancellations, and billing support.
  • Place requested Memory Calls and create recordings and transcripts.
  • Prevent abuse, investigate errors, comply with law, and protect users and the service.
  • Understand service performance and improve features.

4. AI-assisted features

House Of Ours may use artificial intelligence and automated services to transcribe audio, analyze photographs, suggest crops, identify possible dates or other metadata, help organize content, and support memory prompts. Relevant content may be sent to service providers solely to perform these functions for us.

AI results are suggestions and may be incomplete or wrong. Users should review them before relying on or saving them. Where the product provides an AI control, archive owners may use that control to manage the applicable analysis.

5. How content is shared

Family archives are private by invitation. Content is available to invited archive members according to their roles and permissions. Members may be able to download, export, or otherwise copy content they can access. Archive owners control membership and should invite only trusted people.

Some features create shareable links, such as a digital memory book or a printed QR destination. Anyone who receives a working share link may be able to view the linked material, so users should distribute these links carefully.

6. Service providers and disclosures

We use service providers that process information on our behalf, including providers for:

  • Account authentication and security;
  • Cloud application hosting, databases, and file storage;
  • Payment processing and subscription management;
  • Email and telephone communications;
  • AI analysis and transcription; and
  • Monitoring, troubleshooting, backup, and customer support.

We may also disclose information when required by law, to respond to valid legal process, to protect rights and safety, to investigate misuse, or as part of a business transfer. We do not sell family archive content or personal information for money.

7. Retention, export, and deletion

We retain account information and archive content while needed to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Archive owners can export archive data and can schedule archive deletion in Settings. An owner-requested deletion normally includes an export reminder, member notice, and 30-day grace period during which the request may be cancelled.

Subscription cancellation, prolonged inactivity, legal holds, backup cycles, fraud prevention, and technical requirements may affect retention timing. A legal hold pauses deletion when preservation is required. Once permanent deletion begins, access may end and recovery may no longer be possible. Residual encrypted backup copies may remain for a limited period until overwritten.

Closing an individual account may not automatically delete content that person contributed to a shared family archive, because the archive is jointly maintained for its members. Contact us to discuss an account-specific request.

8. Children and family content

House Of Ours is designed for families, and adults may upload stories or media involving children. The person uploading that content is responsible for having authority and any permission required to do so. A person under 18 may create or control an account only with permission from a parent or legal guardian. The service is not directed to children acting independently.

9. Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards intended to protect information. No online service or storage system can guarantee absolute security. Keep your account secure, use trusted devices, and promptly report suspected unauthorized access.

10. Your privacy choices and rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, or a copy of personal information, or to object to or limit certain processing. You can update some information in the service, manage archive membership and billing where authorized, export archive content, and schedule archive deletion in Settings.

To make a privacy request, email support@houseofours.life. We may need to verify your identity and authority over the relevant account or archive. Some requests may be limited where retention is required by law or needed to protect other archive members’ rights. You may also have the right to appeal or complain to a privacy regulator in your jurisdiction.

11. International use

House Of Ours is operated from the United States. Information may be processed in the United States and other countries where our providers operate, which may have different data-protection laws from your location.

12. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the service or law changes. We will update the date above and provide additional notice when a change is material. Continued use after an update means the revised policy applies to future use, subject to applicable law.

Saving media to your device

Invited archive members, including viewers, can save media they can already access by default. The owner or an archive admin can change Media downloads in Archive settings to owners and admins only. This does not expand access to private drafts or other archives and does not grant editing rights. Download restrictions cannot recall existing copies or prevent screenshots or capture of playable media. Separately published Memory Books and QR playback remain governed by their own sharing choices.

Individual photo downloads are full-quality copies of the current saved photo, including saved adjustments, delivered as high-quality JPEGs to reduce file size, or PNGs when transparency needs to be preserved. Download copies omit embedded EXIF/GPS, XMP, and IPTC metadata. Stored originals are not changed. Saved audio and video retain their existing formats and may contain embedded location or device metadata. Full backups may also include original photo metadata. Check files before sharing them outside your family. Device sharing sends a file to the destination you select; it does not confirm a save to Photos. Your browser may instead save to Downloads or Files, and some formats need a compatible app.
